CHARGES
Undoubtedly an important question, but not easily
answered.
I normally ask that you send a section of 2-4 pages, which I
proofread/edit
(at no charge) and then return, which gives me a basis to
judge your work
and to estimate costs, while you then have the opportunity
of judging my work.
The quality of the manuscript is the main
consideration. If the manuscript
is basically sound, costs should not be
high. I appreciate students do not have
unlimited funds, and have based my
costs on a low rate of £10.00 per hour.
This equates to an
approximate cost per page as follows:

From this table you should be able to judge an
approximate cost.
Once you submit your trial edit I will be better
placed to quote a probable charge.
In the event of a task being urgent,
which requires me to delay other work
and put in overtime, my price will be
based on £20.00 per hour.
I expect a down payment of one third
when I start, a further one third when I have completed half of the document,
and the remaining payment once the task is completed.
